METAL FLAKE CONTAINING COATING COMPOSITION HAVING IMPROVED GLAMOUR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal flake containing waster coating composition which protects a substrate, prevents deterioration of the metal flake and gas generation, has weather resistance, is compatible with various solvents and has improved glamour conventional a conventional coating composition. SOLUTION: A coating composition containing a neutralized phosphoryleted and segmented copolymer dispersed in an aqueous carrier extremely decreases hydrogen gas generation since a phosphorous component in the segmented copolymer changes a metal flake such as an aluminum flake used for giving glamour into a passive state. The segmented copolymer is provided with a hydrophobic segment and a nonionic hydrophilic segment. The nonionic hydrophilic segment contained in the segmented copolymer enhances glamour. The coating composition using the aluminum flake in a non-passive state or the aluminum flake in a passive state enhances glamour more than the conventional paint and still maintains dispersion stability of the composition by controlling a molar ratio of the hydrophobic segment to the nonionic hydrophilic segment in the copolymer and the solubility parameter of the hydrophobic segment.
