PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for cutting a tire into small fan- shaped pieces. SOLUTION: The tire 6 is conveyed, carried in the first cutting unit 1 and horizontally supported on an opening/closing lift table 10 arranged inside the unit 1. An expanding/contracting chuck 11 is inserted into the inner periphery of the tire 6 to hold the tire 6 from the inner periphery side. While the above chuck 11 is horizontally rotated, the tread part 6a of the rotating tire 6 is cut by the upper and lower cutters 12, 13. The cut tread part 6a is made to fall by opening the table 10 and cut/separated into plural fan-shaped pieces by a rotary cutter 14 arranged radially below the unit 1. The sidewall part 6b is cut by the cutters 12, 13, which are then cut/separated into fan-shaped pieces by the cutter 14. |
