EXTENSION KEY PAD ENCODER APPARATUS OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

PURPOSE: An extension key pad encoder apparatus of a mobile communication terminal is provided to extend a use coverage of a terminal and freely use the terminal by mounting an extension key pad in the terminal by employing a key exclusive-use controller in the terminal. CONSTITUTION: A modem chip(41) is a terminal dedicated modem for communication with a base station. A CODEC(42) is connected to the modem chip(41) to perform a coding and decoding of a signal. A modem interrupt unit(43) generates an interrupt according to a key depressed state of an extended key pad. An extended key pad(44) allows a user to depress a key thereof. A controller(45) informs the modem chip(41) of the key depressed state to perform a key scanning and changes a state of an interrupt terminal of the modem chip(41) when a key of the extended key pad(44) is depressed. The controller(45) shares a data line of an I2C method connected to the modem chip(41) and the CODEC(42) in order to perform a data communication with the modem chip(41).
