The invention concerns the validation of an operation during a communication established between first and second terminals (T1, T2) through an integrated services digital network (ISDN) comprising establishing in the course of said communication a link between the first terminal (T1) and a third terminal (T3) via a signalling channel (D) for access to the ISDN network, transferring confidential data between the first and third terminals (T1, T3) via said channel, and sending through the third terminal (T3) to the second terminal (T2) an acknowledgement message confirming that the operation has been validated. The invention is particularly applicable to electronic commerce and telepayment through an ISDN network.
