PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal panel having one polarizing plate and capable of giving brightness and high contrast display. SOLUTION: In the reflection type liquid crystal display panel having a super twisted nematic liquid crystal layer 7 wherein liquid crystal molecules are twisted by 180-260 degree, the polarizing plate 10 and a reflection film 3 which hold the super twisted nematic liquid crystal layer 7 in between and at least one sheet of retardation films 8 and 9 disposed between the polarizing plate 10 and the liquid crystal layer 7, when the refractive indices in a delay phase axial direction, an advance phase axial direction and a thickness direction of the retardation films 9 which is the nearest to the polarizing plate are defined as np, ns and nz, respectively, Z coefficient = (nz-np)/(ns-np) of the liquid crystal layer side is made smaller and the Z coefficient of the polarizing plate side is made larger. |
