PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous coating composition capable of completing the elution of a medicine in a short time while coating a sufficient coating to a solid medicine to mask the taste of the medicine, not exhibiting substantial difference in elution behavior between the use of the solution and a case using a first liquid of the Pharmacopoeia of Japan and water, and has no detectable reduction in a bioavailability of the medicine. SOLUTION: This aqueous coating composition obtains 3-20 wt.%, based on the total solid content, of an aqueous dispersion of ethyl cellulose, powder of an enteric coating base agent having an average particle size less than 20μm and a polyvinyl alcohol, in a weight ratio of the ethyl cellulose, the powder of the enteric coating base agent having the average particle size less than 20μm, and the completely saponified polyvinyl alcohol of 100 pts.wt: 10-50 pts.wt: 10-50 pts.wt., in solid basis.
