<p>An exercise machine has a padded bench 1 which can run up and down poles 3, which are vertical in use. The machine may have a main frame 4 which is horizontal in use, and a sub-frame 9 hingedly attached to the main frame, pivoting about tube 13. The poles 3 can pivot relative to the sub-frame 9 about point 10. In use, when in a folded flat position (fig 9), the user can secure themselves to the slidable bench 1, and a helper can rotate the poles 3 to the vertical position about point 10 (fig 3) or 13 (fig 6), depending on the exercise to be performed. The poles 3 may have handles 2 at one end of the sliding bench track. In the position with the bench 1 above the handles 2, the user can perform hand-stand shoulder presses whilst secured to the sliding bench 1 to work the triceps, deltoids and trapezius muscles, without needing careful balance. In the other position, with the handles 2 above the bench 1 (fig 6), the user can pull themselves up to exercise the lats and biceps. The user can work against their own body weight and use a removable additional weight loading device 8. The user can be secured to the bench with seat belts.</p> |
