PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for automatically positioning a radiology apparatus containing an X-ray emission means (12) which can emit an X-ray beam in a so-called viewing direction (17) and an X-ray reception means (11). SOLUTION: The positioning of the radiology apparatus is performed in relation to an object to be X-rayed and, in this method and system, the positioning is performed by determining a first direction and, successively, the viewing direction presenting an angle of displacement relative to the first direction that is less than the first angle. The viewing direction is calculated so that the image quality may become superior to that obtained in the viewing direction parallel to the first direction.
