PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an MR image pickup device which can increase the speed of 3D measurement which performs space selecting excitation. SOLUTION: An exciting pulse 21 and inclined magnetic fields 24 and 25 which vibrate in x- and y-directions are impressed and z- and y-axis space information are encoded to magnetization phases by means of phase encoding inclined magnetic field pulses 23 and 26 by only exciting magnetization in a prescribed two-dimensional area in an x-y plane. Then, an echo 29 is generated after TE time has elapsed by impressing a refocusπpulse 22 and sampled by impressing a lead-out inclined magnetic field 28 in the x-axis direction. When timeτelapses, a second refocusπpulse 11 is impressed and, when the same timeτagain elapses, horizontal magnetization is refocused and forcibly returned to vertical magnetization by impressing an RF pulse 14 for forcing and relieving vertical magnetization. Since the magnetization in the whole volume is returned to the vertical magnetization by only forcibly returning the horizontal magnetization in the excited area to the vertical magnetization, the next magnetization can be performed immediately and the speed of the 3D measurement which performs space selecting excitation can be increased.
