PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently removing phosphate ion and silicate ion in a short time without necessitating any complicated operation and apparatus. SOLUTION: The method of treating the alkaline waste water containing phosphate ion and silicate ion comprises (1) a process for adding a polyvalent metallic hydroxide and stirring, and (2) a process for adding a high molecular flocculating agent and stirring.
