METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MAINTAINING TEMPERATURE INTEGRITY OF CRYOGENICALLY PRESERVED BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES

A method for preserving the temperature integrity of cryogenically preserved biological samples (70) is presented, involving initiating a countdown sequence upon removal of a sample (70) from a controlled portable or bulk storage environment (50), requiring operator action to terminate the countdown on restoration of the sample (70) to a controlled environment. Audible (150) and visual (144) warnings are provided to an operator prior to attainment of a critical temperature, beyond which damage may accrue to the sample. A portable device (50) facilitating execution of the method is described.
