PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can properly reproduce a color of a received image in the case that the color is slightly different from or close to a color of a single color material. SOLUTION: A color decomposition section 111 decomposes received image data into CMYK color data and directly gives the MYK data to an image output section 113 and only the C data to the image output section 113 after being given to an image processing unit 100, where proper image processing is applied to the C data. A delay amount decision 101 of the image processing unit 100 decides whether or not a cyan color is delayed on the basis of the number of colors of the received image data and a delay section 103 delays the cyan color. When not delaying the cyan color, the delay section 103 gives the C data received from the color decomposition section 111 to the image output section 113 without giving any modification to the C data. In the case of delaying the cyan color, the delay section 103 inhibits an output of the C data when the C data are a prescribed value or below and permits the output after the C data reaches the prescribed value.
