PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an easily usable mesh member having rough surface and an apparatus for the production of the mesh member. SOLUTION: A mesh material 40 having a prescribed length is softened by heating at a definite temperature below the melting point of the mesh material. The softened part of the mesh material 40 is introduced into a roller press 14 having rollers 22 rotating while keeping a constant gap and pressed with the rollers. The pressed mesh material is introduced into a compression apparatus 16 and pressed under a prescribed pressure for a prescribed period under heating at a definite temperature to form crease on the surface of the mesh material 40. The pressing period and the surface state of the mesh material can be varied by changing the weight 36 attached to the lid 30 of the compression apparatus 16. The produced mesh member is easily usable owing to its rough surface.
