PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a learning support system by which a learner can rearrange knowledge by himself and which is capable of giving teaching strategy suited to each learner. SOLUTION: A learning support server 20 is provided with a teaching material database 22 storing teaching materials which are to be presented to learners, a learner database 23 storing explanations or the like presented to the learners, a leaner model-base 24 storing learner models in which understanding levels of the learners are described and a host computer 21 functioning as a means which retrieves explanations for dissolving the state of blind lane of a leaner when the learner comes to the end of a learner's tether during learning from the databases 22, 23 and present the explanations to the learner, a means which inquires a learner about whether the explanations presented to the learner are to be registered or not and, when the consent is present, registers the explanations in the learner database 23 and a means which registers the understanding level of the learner which is constituted of the state of the blind lane of the learner and a dissolving method in the learner model base 24 or the like.
