PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball payout apparatus which can reduce the cost of the apparatus significantly by enabling the paying out of balls without use of a special drive means while simplifying the structure thereof. SOLUTION: When the paying out of a specified number of winning balls or dispensed balls is designated, a retaining piece 19 is separated from a rotor 13 with the magnetic excitation of an electromagnetic actuator 18 to release the stoppage of the rotor 13 and the rotor 13 spins by itself according to the weight of the balls 5 to be added thereto so that the balls 5 are transferred sequentially to be paid out from a ball playout port 10. At this point, the number of the balls 5 paid out from the ball payout port 10 is counted by a count sensor 17 and when the balls 5 are counted to the specified number, the electromagnetic actuator 18 shifts to a non-magnetic excitation state to make the retaining piece 19 engage the rotor 13. Thus, the spinning of the rotor 13 is stopped to bring the paying out of the balls to a halt.
