PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for separating oil and water by which oil can surely be separated from water and a large quantity of oil can efficiently be recovered in a short time. SOLUTION: This oil and water separating device is constituted of a cylindrical shaft fixed to a frame whose lower part is opened, a rotary drum which is fit to the shaft to be rotatable and whose outer peripheral member is formed from a perforated plate, a filter mediem which is fit to the rotary drum to cover the outer peripheral member and through which only oil permeates but which repels water, a scraper duct which is fit to the shaft and scrapes the oil introduced into the rotary drum into the shaft, a rotary drum drive fit to the frame for rotating the rotary drum and a sucking unit for sucking the air inside the rotary drum.
