PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wear of a guide face of a chain guide. SOLUTION: Multiple link plates 2 having a pair of tooth parts 21 and a pin hole 22 are laminated in a direction of thickness and a longitudinal direction and connected by a connecting pin 3, and a guide link 4 is placed in an outermost side and pressed and secured to an end of the connecting pin 3 to form a silent chain 1. In this case, when distance from a center line of the pin hole to a back face 23 of the link plate 2, distance from a center line of a pin hole to a back face 43 of a guide link 4, and clearance between the pin hole 22 of the link plate 2 and the connecting pin are defined as hl, hg, and c, respectively, a relation represented as hl>=hg+c/2 is satisfied. In abutting to a guide face 51 of the chain guide 5, the back face 23 of the link plate 2 surely contacts to the guide face 51 and surface pressure acting on the guide face 51 is reduced, and the wear of the guide face 51 can be thereby reduced.
