Synthetic polysaccharide in acidic form and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are described, where the anionic form of the polysaccharide corresponds to one of formulae (I) to (V). Also described are pharmaceutical compositions that comprise a polysaccharide as described above. Also described is the use of a polysaccharide (as described above) for the treatment or prevention of pathologies associated with a coagulation dysfunction. Also described is the use of a polysaccharide (as described above) for the treatment or prevention of cardiovascular system disorders, thromboembolic disorders associated with arteriosclerosis and with diabetes, or thromboembolic disorders associated with rethrombosis after thrombolysis, with infarction, with dementia of ischaemic origin, with peripheral arterial diseases, with haemodialysis or with auricular fibrillations, or alternatively during the use of aorto-coronary bridge vascular prostheses.
