<p>A new class of 2,2':6',2"-terpyridine-platinum (II) and substituted 2,2':6',2"-terpyridine-platinum (II) complexes in which an N- or O- or halo nucleophile is the fourth ligand to platinum. The compounds are potent intercalators of DNA. Some have antitumour activity. Some have anti-parasitic activity. A new method of preparing the complexes involves reacting a Pt complex of 1,5-cyclooctadiene with a 2,2':6',2"-terpyridine.</p> |
