PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide plastic optical fiber which is high in transmission band suitable for optical communication such as middle and high speed LAN, is low in bending loss and is excellent in heat resistance. SOLUTION: This plastic optical fiber composed of a core, a first clad and a second clad is constituted in such a manner that, when refractive indexes of the core, first clad and second clad consisting high polymers are respectively nc, n1 and n2, (nc2-n12)1/2 is in the range of >=0.25 and <=0.38, and (nc2n22)1/2 is >=0.45 the first clad is composed of a copolymer which contains at least one kind of fluorine-contained methacrylic ester expressed by a general formula CH2=CR-COORF of 10-40 mole % and methyl methacrylate of 60-90 mole % as monomer components, and the second clad is composed of a copolymer which contains fluorinated vinylidene unit. |
