PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of realizing the prolongation of the life of a developing means and surely carrying transfer material without causing cost rise, with respect to an image forming device forming an image while carrying the transfer material nearly in a vertical direction. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, the image is formed by successively transferring the images formed by plural image forming means 8M to 8K to the transfer material 1 while the material 1 passes through respective transfer nip parts T1 to T4 formed by a transfer material carrying and feeding means 7 and all the image carriers 9M to 9K of the image forming means 8M to 8K, and the image forming means used at the time of forming the image can be selected out of plural image forming means 8M to 8K. The device is equipped with a control means 37 for controlling image carrier driving means 34 and 35 and developing driving means 34 and 36 in the case of forming the image so as to drive the image carrier of the image forming means which is not used for forming the image and stop the driving of the developing means of the image forming means which is not used for forming the image. |
