A device (10) for adjusting the position of a machine tool (T) is disclosed. The device (10) comprises a surface plate (18) defining a flat surface. A plurality of clamps (12) are supported relative to the flat surface. Each clamp (12) is adapted to support a tool (T). An adjustment member is adapted to adjust each tool (T) relative to a respective one of the clamps (12). The method may provide a clamp (12) and a measuring device (32) spaced apart from the clamp. A tool (T) may be inserted into the clamp (12). Next, the tool may be engaged with the measuring device (32). Now, the position of the tool (T) may be adjusted to achieve a desired measurement by the measuring device (32). Finally, the clamp (12) may be tightened upon the tool (T) to hold the tool in a fixed position. At least one additional clamp (12) may be provided and the clamps may be co-planar relative to one another.
