A shaft sinking bar comprises a rigid chassis for suspension in a shaft, means for guiding the chassis in the shaft, a first carriage movable in a first horizontal direction, two second carriages mounted on the first carriage and movable in a second horizontal direction at right angles to the first horizontal direction, one frame on each of the second carriages movable round an axis parallel with the second horizontal direction, slideways on the frames pivotable around an axis parallel with the frame axis, drilling tools movable on the slideways, and means for moving frames, carriages, and slideways. As shown, a chassis 1 suspended within a shaft and guided therein by wheels 3 has a carriage 16 movable in guide rails 12 by means of a motor 17. The carriage 16 has two carriages 28, 34 movable by motors 29 and 35 respectively. Each carriage 28, 34 is provided with a frame 42, rotatable around a spindle 44 by an hydraulic ram 46. The frame 42 comprises two members 48, 49, and a shaft 55 parallel to the spindle 44 and rigidly secured to a rod 58 movable by a ram 61. Three slideways 62, 63, 64 are secured to each shaft and are movable by rams 70. Rock drills are mounted on the slideways for back and forward movement. The bar may be held in position in the shaft by hydraulically operated gripper heads 9. |
