METHOD FOR PRODUCING gamma-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID-CONTAINING DRIED GREEN LEAF POWDER OF GRAMINACEOUS PLANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dried green leaf powder of graminaceous plant containing in a high concentration GABA(γ-aminobutyric acid) having hypotensive activity. SOLUTION: The dried green leaf powder of graminaceous plant containing >=20 mg y-aminobutyric acid per 100 g dried green leaf powder of graminaceous plant is provided through a method comprising (a) a process of blanching green leaves of graminaceous plant using such water that the half-width of the peak of its oxygen nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum is <=90 Hz; (b) a process of cooling the thus blanched green leaves of graminaceous plant; (c) a process of drying the thus cooled green leaves of graminaceous plant; and (d) a process of pulverizing the thus dried green leaves of graminaceous plant.
