Class 120(1) Carding engine flats are attached to endless flexible bands by clamping with plates. The flats may be screwed on the upper surfaces of the bands and the clamping plates may form the sliding surfaces running on the carding engine bands. The bands may have protruberances or teeth 2<SP>1</SP> to engage in recesses in the plates 10 and the flats 1, Fig. 3, or smooth bands may be used, so clamped as to be pressed into concavities in the plates 10 by convex portions on the flats 1, Fig. 4. In other embodiments, protruberances may be attached to the bands by rivets; eyelets may be set in the bands to receive bolts; or steel bands may be embossed with depressions. Instead of being made of steel, the bands may be of a synthetic material, with or without steel strand reinforcement. |
