MAP DISPLAYING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce times of switching of display directions in a road map and to improve visibility of the map in a car navigation device. SOLUTION: A point where a running route firstly goes out of a certain region around a vehicle is calculated, and a display direction of the map is determined so that the point goes to the upper part, thereby displaying the map in an almost determined display direction regardless of a bending state of the route before the point. A function having a hysteresis characteristic in the display direction of the map is applied to prevent the display direction from unnecessarily changing.
