PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for surface treating an electrode in which the discoloration of the surface of a tin-zinc alloy or a tin-silver alloy can be suppressed, and also deterioration in solder wettability at the time of soldering electronic parts can be suppressed. SOLUTION: In this method for surface treating an electrode, the surface of a tin-zinc alloy or a tin-silver coated with an electrode is coated with an organic compound containing nitrogen atoms.
