PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the adsorption of gases generated by the gasification of various organic materials used in a magnetic disk device on a magnetic head act as contaminants that cause irregular levitation of the magnetic head, incapability of writing/reading of a signal and damage to a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A gas adsorbing film 7 is imparted to the non-recording and reproducing face of a magnetic disk medium used in a magnetic disk device so that organic gases generated in the device are adsorbed on the gas adsorbing film 7.
