PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for measuring an element of a belt for a continuously variable transmission capable of accurately and rapidly measuring length of a laminated element and allowing to highly precisely assemble the belt for the continuously variable transmission by easily forming the laminated element with the same circumferential length of an endless ring. SOLUTION: A set process for loading the laminated element 2 along an annular guide groove 29 is performed. Then a pressing process for pressing a rear end of the laminated element 2 is performed with a tip of the laminated element 2 stopped as a reference position. A measurement process is performed in succession for measuring length (a) of the laminated element 2 based on a detected turning angle from the reference position to a rear end of the laminated element 2 moved in the pressing process when elements 6 are closely contacted to each other.
