The outer face(12a) of the brake lining's support plate(12) has two spaced apart upwards projecting lugs(16,18) each having an opening(16o,18o) extending perpendicularly to the support plate. A leaf spring(20) has an opening(20s1,20s2) at each end and gripped by the inner lying wall(16i,18i) of the respective lug on the support plate. The opening in the lugs is in the form of an elongated hole, the longitudinal axis of which runs parallel to the outer face of the support plate.
