PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article capable of smoothly absorbing liquid and hardly causing the wet-back. SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 comprises a sub-layer sheet 5 disposed between a surface sheet 2 and an absorbent 4. The absorbent 4 is formed by covering a liquid-holding absorbent core 41 with a fluid-permeable cover sheet 42. The sub-layer sheet 5 is oblong and narrower than the absorbent core 41 and is placed in a center part in a width direction of the absorbent core 41. An adhesive layer 6 is provided from one end part in the longitudinal direction of at least the sub-layer sheet 5 across to the other end part between the surface sheet 2 and the cover sheet 42 or on the non-abutted to the skin side of the cover sheet 42 outside both edges 5a and 5a of the sub-layer sheet 5 and above the absorbent core 41.
