Apparatus holder for an electronically temperature-regulated soldering apparatus whose temperature is reduced when it is placed down. In some applications, regulated soldering irons are placed down for the majority of the time for which they are switched on. In order to increase the life of soldering tips and heating coils, the temperature of the soldering tip of the soldering iron which has been placed down is reduced. This is done by connecting a defined voltage to the temperature measurement bridge of the control loop. This voltage is obtained at the contact point between the soldering iron and metal frame of the apparatus holder, using the thermocouple effect. As a result of this arrangement, there is no need for any switches and sensors on the apparatus holder; the additional cost (in addition to the conventional regulation circuit) in other respects remains extremely low. The amount of temperature reduction can be preselected via a variable resistor.
