922,349. Vacuum-moulding containers. ELECTROLUX Ltd. May 17, 1960 [May 26, 1959], No. 17350/60. Class 87(2). A preheated sheet 15 of e.g. polystyrene is clamped in a frame 10 between an upper plunger 14 and a three-part lower die 18, 19, 20. Suction is applied through channels 22 to bend the sheet downwardly, and the tool 14 lowered until it engages the sheet at the desired points. A valve 25 is closed to cut off the suction from the space 17 and valves 30, 36 opened to atmosphere, and the tool lowered further into its final position. The lower die parts are moved upwardly into the position shown in Fig. 3. Final shaping, Fig. 4, is effected by opening the valves 30, 25 to suction and both channels 34 and 37 to atmosphere. The die and tool may be heated, and the moulded article may be removed by compressed air. |
