PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tyrosinase activity inhibitor strongly suppressing tyrosinase activity concerning with a melanin formation and moreover capable of being expected in safety and a cosmetic suppressing the melanin formation by suppressing the tyrosinase activity and expected in bleaching actions, wrinkle- resistant actions, etc. SOLUTION: This tyrosinase activity inhibitor comprises a compound having a stilbene structure represented by formula (1) (wherein, R denotes H, OH, a halogen or a 1-9C alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy) as an active ingredient and the cosmetic contains the tyrosinase activity inhibitor.
