PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scrap floating detection apparatus of a press machine capable of surely detecting scrap floating. SOLUTION: The scrap floating detection apparatus of the press machine is provided with a sensor to output a signal corresponding to a proximity distance of a stripper mounted to an upper die, a means to automatically set a scrap floating detection time from a point of time, when the sensor starts to detect the stripper, to just before the stripper is bottomed out, and a means by which the proximate distance of the stripper for the sensor in a scrap floating period is detected and generation of scrap floating is detected, in the case that the proximate distance is different from the distance set beforehand.
