PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasion detecting device for brake block capable of easily and securely detecting the limitation of the abrasion without changing the structure of the brake block. SOLUTION: This invention is related to an abrasion detecting device 1 for detecting the abrasion of a brake block 63 to be brought in pressure-contact with a tread of a wheel 54. This abrasion detecting device 1 is provided with a conductive wire 2 to be put in/out from side surfaces 63A and 63B and arranged along the abrasion limitation position T of the brake block 63, and the limitation of the abrasion is detected on the basis of a disconnection of the conductive wire 2.
