PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor memory in which concentrated refresh is not required to perform after a self-refresh period by refreshing uniformly all words and its address control method. SOLUTION: When a mode is switched externally to a self-refresh mode, an external address immediately before switching to a self-refresh mode is latched to a latch circuit 3. Count is started from an address to which 1 is added as an internal address by a counter 5. When an external address latched to the latch circuit 3 and an internal address coincide, operation is performed by finishing a self-refresh mode.
