PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll compressor capable of ensuring the most appropriate volume ratio of compression chamber corresponding to the revolution speed of compressor and obtaining the most appropriate COP over a wide range from a small performance to a large performance caused by a revolution speed variable speed. SOLUTION: In the scroll compressor, a stationary scroll in which a scroll-like lap is standingly provided on a mirror plate is fixed in a closed container and a rotation scroll 4 in which a scroll-shaped lap 4b is standingly provided on a mirror plate 4a is provided. A plurality of compression chambers are formed by engaging the laps each other. A coolant in the compression chamber is compressed by reducing a volume accompanying a movement to a center direction of the scroll. A by-path groove 12 is formed on a bottom surface of the lap of any one of the stationary scroll and the rotation scroll 4 or both scrolls.
