PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the operation stroke in the axial direction without changing the whole length. SOLUTION: This gas spring device 11 can easily adjust the height of a seat part 14 of a chair 12 by allowing the pressurized gas to flow and cutting it. The gas spring device 11 has an appearance that a rod is projected from a cylindrical body, and an upper end thereof is fitted to a fitting 16 fixed to a frame 15 horizontally provided in a lower side of the seat part 14, and a lower end thereof is fitted to a leg part 18 of the chair 12. In the gas spring device 11, since the rod 20 is formed at a large diameter so as to secure the rigidity, lap length of a rod guide 32 can be shortened than a conventional one, and the upward stroke can be prolonged so as to increase the operation stroke.
