PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a node unit that has a buffer section and transmits a packet via a specific path in a ring network consisting of node units. SOLUTION: The buffer section 21 consists of a buffer memory 11 having storage areas 1-4, a header detection section 12, a header storage section 13, and an address generating section 14. The header detection section 12 extracts a destination address from a header part of a packet and informs the header storage section 13 about the header. The header storage section 13 extracts a transmission channel to which a destination transmission terminal is connected and informs an address generating section 14 about its base address. The address generating section 14 sequentially stores packets sent to a prescribed storage area denoted by the base address and outputs the stored packets when they are externally read.
