The invention concerns a method which consists in providing a television receiver/decoder (101) with means (107) to be connected to Internet via a telephone network. Said connection is relatively slow but enables a user of the apparatus to browse comfortably through the network. It the user wishes to download a large file from the server (140) he is offered the use of means (109) for fast connection of the apparatus. Depending on the television operator whereof he is a subscriber, the user may select on the basis of acquisition rights to download the file via the television flow (132, 104, 103). The payment of rights is carried out either at the time of selection validation for file transfer, or prior to the transfer. Once the transaction is concluded, the file is transferred from the server to the television operator, then to the user.
