The towbar has eyes (8) at each end to connect to the towing vehicle and the towed vehicle. The eyes are linked to identical tubes (4, 5). The inner ends of the tubes pass into a central tube (1) and are attached to the ends of a coiled steel spring (3). The outer tubes are linked by a secondary tubular assembly which has a carrying handle (12). The secondary tube assembly can bow to allow for braking contraction of the spring.
