PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize and reduce the cost of an apparatus by enabling reversing operation and switching of a carrying passage to a carrying path for printing a second side without provision of a flapper, etc. SOLUTION: After sheet material S is carried from a pair of rollers 101, one of the first and a third pair of rollers 101, 103, wherein a first and a second rollers 20 and 22 nip a carrying roller 21 rotating in one direction, respectively, to a second pair of rollers 102 wherein rollers rotate normally and reverely, the normally and reversely rotating rollers are rotated in opposite directions. A carrying passage 16 between the two carrying rollers and the second pair of rollers 102 is curved so that the sheet material S is fed to the nip of the other pair of rollers 103. Then, (1) a discharge path k1 for normal rotation is arranged to be shorter than a feed path k3 for reverse rotation, or (2) the carrying speed of the second pair of rollers 102 rotating normally and reversely rotating is set to be faster than that of the carrying roller 21 nipped with the two rollers 20 and 22.
