The bogie for a rail vehicle has a cross bar (3) with the ends connected by longerons (2) and with wheel axles. A cross panel (14) mounted on top of the bogie extends between the upper face of the bogie and the lower face of the vehicle. The panels are formed by blades (14A) which are curved with the concave side upward to exert a preload of between ten and twenty five KiloNewtons.
