PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a painted building material having a recessed part darker in color than a projected part and providing an abundant feeling of irregularities and an abundant natural feeling by shading off the side edge of a printed layer by an under coast layer. SOLUTION: This painted building material is formed by applying a paint on the surface of a substrate having an irregular relief surface. The paint comprises an under coat layer 4 formed by an inorganic paint, printed patterns 5 and 6 drawn with an inorganic paint and provided on the under coat layer 4, and a top coat layer 7 having an inorganic colorant. Desirably, the top coat layer 7 should be more collected to the recessed part 3, and the top coat layer 7 is dark-colored.
