PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a novel coating material capable of forming a coating film having an excellent designing effect of dichroism, and a coating film- forming method using the same. SOLUTION: This coating material composition comprises optically interfering mica flakes obtained by coating the mica surface with an iron oxide and a titanium oxide. The coating film-forming method comprises coating the coating material composition and a clear coating material sequentially on an object to be coated in layers.
