PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate complicatedness and uncertainty of a manual work since ways of cutting macros to be objects are sometimes different between a logical design stage and a physical design state and a logical macro has to be manually converted into a physical macro in designing a high performance LSI. SOLUTION: Efficient logical design in consideration of layout design is enabled by describing the logical macro as a unit of the logical design in a hardware description language at a register transfer level (a step 101), imparting description exclusive for separation in its description, automatically separating (a step 102) and integrating (a step 105) the logical macro into the physical macro to be a unit of the layout design by analyzing the description exclusive for separation further and automatically separating the logical macro by automatically defining input/output signals of the macro (a step 107) further and automatically generating a high order macro equivalent to the high order of the separated logical circuit (a step 109).
