PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium that stores real time recording/ reproducing information, a real time recording and reproducing method and device and a file operation method employing this information. SOLUTION: The real time recording/reproducing attribute is given to a file by storing real time recording/reproducing information to a file control information area, each real time file or a separate file in order to warrant real time recording/reproduction. Thus, a file that is real-time-recorded can continuously be reproduced without interruption. Furthermore, a file provided with a real time recording/reproducing attribute can be generated, and the data area can be extended, recorded and reproduced.
