PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly thaw an article in short time, to store the article after the thawing and to unnecessitate a work within a warehouse at a low temperature. SOLUTION: An article is stored at low storing density in a primary thawing chamber using an automated storage and retrieval warehouse and the article is rapidly thawed up to a primary thawing temperature lower than a final temperature. The article is carried by a conveyor from the primary thawing chamber to a secondary thawing chamber, is gradually thawed up to the final temperature and is stored.
