PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refuse drying apparatus capable of eliminating the ignition fear of refuse and capable of shortening a drying time. SOLUTION: High temperature steam C is introduced in the direction crossing the moving bed of refuse A at a right angle to be brought into contact with the refuse A to efficiently dry the refuse A and high temperature steam C containing no oxygen is used as a drying medium to eliminate the fear of the ignition of the refuse A. Since the fear of ignition is eliminated, the temperature of the high temperature steam C is raised to shorten a drying time.
